Fifth Annual Garden Tour
Returns to the South County
Sponsored by Ron's Nursery
The Oceano Dunes and oak forests provide
scenic backdrops in some of the spectacular gardens on
this year's "Visions & Vistas" garden tour. In a return
to the South County, six gardens will be opened to
ticket holders on Sunday, May 18. Artists and musicians
will add to the tour's ambiance.
A reserved catered lunch will be available for an
additional cost of $10.00 and must be ordered and
prepaid by May 14. A lovely, peaceful setting and a
nice place to sit awhile will be provided where you can
enjoy the entertainment.

advance. Ticket prices are $30.00 for members and
$40.00 for non members. Click

4pm Monday through Friday.
A light breakfast will be served at the
gazebo behind the Arroyo Grande City Hall building on
East Branch. You will receive your tickets and
tour map at the breakfast. Some of the activities
planned at various gardens during the day are:
- music at every garden throughout the day
- a garden model train will run through one of our gardens
- lavender lemonade and lavender shortbread cookies
- Tony Harmon the classical guitarist
- complimentary olive oil tasting, a trio
of clarinetists, a choral group and even a Dixieland
jazz group
- Linda Brownson’s dazzling photographs
- watercolor artist Douglas Simms

There is something for every taste. These
are very special small and large gardens, so be prepared
for a fantastic day in the South County. Be sure to
dress in layers and wear your comfortable walking shoes. |

Life Celebration Garden |
The Celebration Garden
came to be through the joint efforts of the San Luis Obispo
Botanical Garden and Hospice Partners of the Central Coast. Shaded
by young oak trees, this garden is a serene place to celebrate

Free Garden Gateway Presentation |

The Friends of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden
invite you to attend a 45-minute presentation of our
vision for the future Botanical Garden. These
presentations are informational only and you will not be
asked for a donation.
You will be amazed by the scope of this world class
project that will be an important new cultural venue for
our county as well as a dramatic new tourist attraction.
See the new straw bale sustainable Education Center
building and the unique landscape plants for the Center.
Added delights: homemade refreshments or a light lunch
at the noon sessions. A brief tour of the Preview
Garden is included if you wish.

Docent-Led Tours for Groups by Appointment (Please
submit at least three weeks in advance.)
- What is our mediterranean climate and what does it
mean to our plants?
- How do plants adapt to our mediterranean climate of dry summers?
- How did native people in California and the other four
mediterranean climate zones use plants in their everyday
lives?
- How do you choose and grow plants from the five mediterranean
climate regions in your home landscape?
- What are some California native plants and how can they be
useful?
- What are succulents and what is their value and use?
- How does soil, water, and light fit into the care of plants?
- What attracts certain pollinators such as birds, bees, and
butterflies to certain plants?
Make arrangements for your club, business, or group of friends to
take a personal tour on one of the above topics or a special topic
you can discuss with the tour coordinator. Complete the request below

The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is located on Highway 1 in
El Chorro Regional Park
between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. The Preview Garden is open during daylight
hours, and admission is free.
